Hey there, Virginia here again! As some of you may know I have various responsibilities across the marketing world in my day today job. This includes social media, email marketing, website projects, and customer interactions. This week’s tip brings you a tactic that I use to stay organized.
If you enjoy these weekly snippets, I would appreciate a quick share with your friends and colleagues!
Everyone is different with the way they organize their tasks and reminders throughout the week. Personally I like to put reminders on my Google calendar throughout the week for tasks that I need to complete.
How do you organize your schedule?
Schedule 15-min Tasks on your Calendar
Typically my tasks are scheduled as 15 minute windows on my calendar. Some of these tasks are repeated weekly, biweekly, monthly, or quarterly.
Some examples of these quick tasks are:
Responding to YouTube comments
Sending out app notifications
Cleaning up email lists
Checking the status of projects with my team
Depending on my week, i do my best to stay one day ahead in completing them throughout the week.
But how?
It’s not a secret that juggling all of the marketing responsibilities for a company is a lot. I’ve disciplined myself to follow this rule.
When I don’t know what to do “next”…
The rule comes into play when I’ve completed a meeting or a longer project; that moment I’m saying to myself “what’s next?”
I open my calendar and get started on knocking off these quick wins.
The Rule: If a task coming up takes me 15 minutes or less, I do it.
This has been a big game-changer for me to stay focused through your my week.
I’ve found that the satisfaction of “finishing” something drives me to continue working well throughout the day.
Stay Distraction Free
I found that when applying this throughout the week, I feel less interrupted with smaller things that have to get done.
I would love to hear what different routines you have for completing smaller tasks throughout the week, and what method you use. Leave a comment 👇
