June is here. Wild to think we are less than one month away from the FIRST HALF of the year. 🤯
Are you panicking yet?
Your half-year goals may ultimately be out the window by now. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It may be time to change your goals. And it’s not too late.
My Team Is Slowing Down & Shifting Goals
We’re done being mediocre.
Recently, my team realized we were overreaching for new projects without paying proper attention to the things we were doing well and improving them first.
We have put only 80% effort towards goals in our company and never maxed out to 100% before moving on to new goals.
Has this happened to you?
You did an excellent job at one thing, but before maximizing it, you move on to something new.
I blame the culture around us that we need to be constantly hustling.
Don't make excuses for why you can't get it done. Focus on all the reasons why you must make it happen. -Ralph Marston
With this new mentality, the goals for June have changed.
🏆 Reprioritize the all-star parts of our company and make them MVPs.
4 Signs It’s Time To Reprioritize:
Are you constantly trying to “catch up”?
Some tasks you used to do all the time are getting pushed to the side.
You feel like your head is just above the water.
You can’t get anything “done” on your to-do list.
If you know these feelings well, it may be time to sit down with your team and change your priorities to what matters most.
Know someone dealing with these things? Share with a friend!
How To Prioritize Your Team
In a leadership role, you must realize your part in changing your team's mentality. In a recent tweet by Dave Kline, there are a few great pointers to get started.
Start delegating - everything. It will help everyone.
Set expectations with yourself and your standards.
Share expectations for your team - and follow up with them.
These changes will take months to institute and accomplish, but determination will win. Don't give up.
Marketing Tip of the Week:
Underestimating “Word of Mouth” Marketing
This week I tweeted about how I reply to some customers with “and friends.” Every interaction with customers can result in massive growth by word of mouth. Be personal with EACH customer.
One small tip is dropping a quick "friend" reply to some customers.
"We look forward to working with you (and friends!) again."
The key with "and friends!" is to trigger a few thoughts for your customer.
They will instantly think about one person they want to tell about your brand.
They may think about sharing their experience on social media.
Maybe they work in an industry where they can tell colleagues.
But how do you measure it? Exit surveys or phone conversations. See how many customers said they heard about us from a friend 👇
Paid marketing is essential. So is social media. But get personal and drop hints like this with current customers to get them thinking about a relationship they can relate to your business. That is huge.
Reminder, this is a new journey for me every week, so feel free to add your comments or suggestions below. I would love to hear more about what you want to hear about!
